Treat a banked reset as a benefit attached to your account with its own terms. An announcement about a benefit is not proof that your allowance has already changed. First establish what you received; then review what using it will do.
Know which kind of benefit you are looking at

Before using a reset
Use this checklist to decide whether you have enough information to proceed:
- Identify the offer. Keep its official page or in-product description, rather than relying on a repost with the conditions cropped out.
- Match the account. Check the intended product, plan, and workspace against the offer you are reading.
- Confirm receipt. Look for the available benefit in that account. Sending an invitation is not a useful substitute for this check.
- Read the expiry. Note both the date and any stated time zone. Do not assume another promotion's deadline applies.
- Review the action. Read the confirmation before applying the benefit and note the allowance readings you intend to compare afterward.
OpenAI's referral promotion terms say rewards depend on the required qualifying actions and eligibility checks. Benefits, limits, and deadlines vary by offer. Referral resets normally have a 30-day use period unless the offer specifies otherwise. The terms also prohibit transferring or selling referral benefits. Check the particular offer, even if you have used a similar one before.
After using a reset
A full banked reset refreshes the five-hour and weekly Codex windows and changes the weekly reset date. It is consumed when at least one eligible window is successfully refreshed. Reopen the usage view if it has not updated yet. These behaviors are described in OpenAI's explanation.
Compare the refreshed view with your note. Record what actually changed without trying to infer a missing result from a celebration message or a closed dialog. If the result is unclear, keep that distinction in your problem report: “I confirmed the action” is different from “I verified the new allowance.”
Next, revisit any personal reminder. Edit the Reset Radar timer using the newly displayed deadline. Check an already imported calendar event separately; changing a website timer does not rewrite your calendar. Remove or update an obsolete event so that two reminders do not point you to competing times.
Common mistakes
Do not count an announcement as a saved balance, confuse credits with reset availability, or leave an old weekly reminder unchanged after redemption. Do not expect a future promotion to rescue a deadline you cannot currently meet.
